In a near perfect game the Tigers shut out the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first game of interleague play this season.   Justin Verlander pitched a nearly perfect game, as he only gave up one hit in the bottom of the 9th inning to Josh Harris, he managed to strike out 12 Pirates and walked two.  Delmon Young picked up 3 rbis on a homerun and a two run double.  Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder both added a rbi double apiece and Don Kelly brought home a run on a single.  Comerica Park was packed with 41,661 fans on hand for the "standing room" only game.  The Tigers will take on the Pirates in game 2 of the 3 game series on Saturday afternoon.  Drew Smyly is scheduled to tend the mound for Detroit.  Tune into The All New 1340 AM "The Ticket " or 1270 AM WMKT "The Talk Station" at 3:40 PM to catch all the action live with Dan Dickerson and Jim Price.

The Minnesota Twins captured the win and the two game series  over the Tigers at Comerica Park on Thursday afternoon in Detroit.  It was a set of back to back homers in the 3rd inning that pushed the Twins past the Tigers early in the game. Morneau went on to hit a ground out in the top of the 5th inning that scored Josh Willingham for the winning run.  The Tigers did have a successsion of homeruns, Brennan Boesch homered in the bottom of the 5th inning and both Andy Dirks and Prince Fielder homered in the 6th inning.  Twins Starting Pitcher P.J Walters earned the win in 6 1/3 innings of work giving up the 3 runs on 4 hits with 2 strike outs and Matt Capps earned the save.  Doug Fister takes the loss in 6 innings of play he gave up the 4 runs on 9 hits and struck out 5.  The Tigers will take on the Pittsburg Pirates in an interleague match up this weekend.  Tune into The All New 1340 AM The Ticket or 1270 AM "The Talk Station" at 6:40 PM on Friday night to catch all the action live from Comerica Park with Dan Dickerson and Jim Price.

The Minnesota Twins picked up the win over the Tigers in Detroit on Wednesday night in game one of a two game series.  In a see-saw style scoring effort by both teams tied up the game at 6 to 6 up until the 5th  inning when an  rbi double by Miguel Cabrera put the Tigers on top. Jamie Carroll knocked out a two run double to push the Twins ahead and then the went ahead to add  another a run in the 7th  by Alexi Casilla.  The Twins then  finished off the Tigers with a  2 run homer by Trevor Plouffe on a pitch by Collin Ballester in the  9th inning.  Starting Tigers' Pitcher Rick Porcello allowed 6 runs, 2 earned and 4 unearned runs on 6 hits in 4 innings of work.  Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder both drove in a pair of runs apiece.  The Tigers finished the game with 7 runs, on 11 hits and 4 errors.  The Twins managed the 11 runs on 14 hits and 0 errors.  The Tigers will take on the Twins in the series finale on Thursday afternoon when Doug Fister is on the mound for Detroit.  Tune into The All New 1340 AM The Ticket or 1270 AM WMKT "The Talk Station" at 12:40 PM to catch all the action live with Dan Dickerson and Jim Price.

The A's beat the Tigers and the final score was 11 to 4.

The A's in Oakland picked up the win over the Tigers and evened the series on Friday night.  The Tigers had taken the lead in the 1st inning, and it was a see-saw affair up until the 3rd inning when the game began to unravel for Detroit.  Rick Porcello pitched the first  5 innings and gave up 4 runs on 5 hits.  The Tigers went on to give up 4 runs in the 6th inning with a rbi single by Josh Reddick and Brandon Inge (former Tiger)  3 run homer.  Reddick went on to add a 3 run homer in the 7th inning.  Porcello takes the loss and Tommy Milone earned the win in 7 innings of work, giving up only 2 runs on five hits with six strike outs.  Miguel Cabrera chalked up 3 rbis in the game and   Delmon Young added one. The Detroit Tigers picked up the  win in game one of a four game series on Thursday night over the A's in Oakland.  In what appeared to be a blow out for the Tigers as they lead 10 to 2 up until the bottom of the 8th inning, that is when former Tiger Brandon Inge smoked a grand slam (his 2nd in 3 days) on a pitch from Collin Balester.   The Tigers had begun the game with a homer in the first by Andy Dirks  and then Detroit picked up an 8 run 3rd inning.  Miguel Cabrera added a run in the 5th on a single for the Tigers .  Max Scherzer earned the win  in 6 1/3 innings giving up only 2 runs on 5 hits and struck out 9.  Bartolo Colon took the loss for the A's in 2 1/3 innings of work he gave up 8 runs on 9 hits and had zero strike outs.  Dirks went 4 for 4 for the night on the offense for Detroit. The Tigers will take on the A's in game 2 of the 4 game series from Oakland on Friday night.  Tune into The All New 1340 AM The Ticket or 1270 AM "The Talk Station" at 9:40 PM to catch all the action live with Dan Dickerson and Dan Petrie.  Rick Porcello is scheduled to take the mound for Detroit.
