state police arrest two people in cadillac

Michigan State Police have arrested two people in Cadillac they believe are behind an organized theft ring.


Jennifer Sanborn and Jeremiah Grose are facing several counts of receiving and concealing stolen property. Police say the two stole expensive tools, equipment, and sporting items from area businesses over the past several months.

suttons bay school gets grant

Local News

School administrators in Suttons Bay are breathing a little easier this morning after receiving just over $180,000 from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.


The gift, which is part of the tribe's 2% allocation funding is the largest of the 58 grants it handed out in the second half of 2011 and it helps stave off the threat of an emergency financial manager take over.

police in kentucky investigate death of northern michigan soldier

Local News

Police in Kentucky are investigating the death of a soldier with ties to Northern Michigan.


Police say Vincent Goslyn Jr. was found near For Campbell Friday night where he was stationed and say his wife Jessie confessed to the crime while implicating an accomplice. Both Vincent and Jessie Goslyn are originally from the Cadillac area. The wife and her accomplice, Jarred Long, are both in jail - charged with murder.

Otsego county man caught with 1/2 pound of marijuana

Local News

An Otsego County man was caught with about a half pound of marijuana in his car Friday.


Michigan State police say the 52 year old from East Jordan was stopped for a traffic violation and after the trooper smelled something odd - a half pound of marijuana was found in the guys car and an additional 1.5 pounds was found at his home.

Coast guard rescues kayaker

The Coast Guard out of Traverse City had to rescue a man Saturday night from South Manitou Island who had been kayaking.


The man was taken back to the Coast Guard Air-Station where he was checked out and released in good condition.

The Northmen Defeat The Cheboygan Cheifs on Monday Night in Petoskey

The final score was 68 to 51.

The Petoskey Northmen captured their 15th straight win of the season with the victory over the Cheboygan Cheifs in a non-conference game on Monday night.  The Northmen took command of the court early with a 36 to 22 lead at the half as both Joe Robbins and Zak Lewis led in scoring with 8 points apiece and Peter Kelbel tacked on 7 points.  The Northmen defense imposed their diamond press on the the Cheifs and they were unable ot overcome the pressure.  The Northmen pressed on in the second half of the game and were able to push their lead to 55-33 at the end of the third quarter.  Petoskey picked up the win in the  50's style throwback game and stand undefeated this season. Joe Robbins led Petoskey in scoring with a total of 20 points in the match up, Zak Lewis finished with 16 points and Sam Baumgartner added 11 points for the win.  The Northmen will travel to Traverse City on Friday to take on the T.C.  West Titans in a Big North Conference match up.  The Northmen stand at 9 and 0 in the Big North Conference and have clinched the Championship share of status, while the Titans are 9 and 5 overall and and 6 and 3 in the league. The Giants Win Super Bowl Championship

The New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots on Sunday night with a final score of 21 to 17.

The New York Giants captured the win in Super Bowl 46 with the victory over the New England Patriots in Indiana.  The Giants earned their second championship in the past five seasons after previously defeating the New Enland 17 to 14 back in Super Bowl 42.  Ahmad Bradshaw clinched the win for the Giants with a 6 yard touchdown run with only about one minute left in the game finishing with a total of 72 yards on the ground. Eli Manning earned the MVP award after throwing for a total of 296 yards and completing a touchdown pass to Victor Cruz.  Lawrence Tyne kicked to successful field goals and helped the Giants attain their 4th Lambardi Trophy. 

Tom Brady of the Patriots managed 276 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the loss.  Aaron Hernandez and Danny Woodhead both scored touchdowns in the effort for the Patriots. The Giants had dominated the first quarter with a 9 to 0 lead and New England had come back to take the lead with a 10 to 9 score at the half.  The Patroits increased their lead to  17 to 9 with Brady's second touchdown but then New York managed a pair of field goals and Bradshaw insured the win with the final touchdown of the game. Brady attempted a pass into the enzone in a last ditch effort for the Patriots but it it was incomplete as the time expired on the clock.

 Super Bowl XLVI will be broadcast live from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on The All New 1340 AM The Ticket this afternoon.  Tune in to catch all the play-by-play action with Kevin Harlan and Boomer Esiason as the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants in the most celebrated game of football of the season.  Pregame coverage begins at 4:00 PM and kickoff is scheduled for approximatley 6:25 PM.

Rayders pull out late win over Boyne City

The final score was 69 to 68.

The Charlevoix Rayders battled back from a 11 point deficit to even the series against the Boyne City Ramblers. The Rayders trailed by 7 at halftime, but they slowly came back to take the lead late in the 4th quarter. Leading the way for the Rayders were Charlie Hamilton (18 points), Tanner Catt (14 points, 3 rebounds), and Andrew Plude (13 points, 4 rebounds). Charlevoix (8-5 overall, 4-4 conference) are back in action on Tuesday, February 7th when they take on the Blazers of Kalkaska. Catch all the action on 1270 AM WMKT with Al Telgenhof at 7:30 PM.

The Northmen Top The Trojans on Tuesday Night

The final score was 53 to 27.

The Petoskey Northmen picked up their 14th straight win this season with the victory over the Trojans of T.C. Central in Traverse City on Tuesday night.  The Northmen were slow to start part picked up the pace and overcame the Trojans defense as the game progressed. Petoskey kicked the their defense in the second half of the game and held T.C. Central to only 11 points in the second half of the game.  Zak Lewis led the Northmen in scoring with 14 points , Jake Mullin added 13 points and Sam Baumgartner nailed 10 points in the effort.  The Northmen will take on the Cheboygan Cheifs on Monday, Febuary 6, 2012.  Tune into the All New 1340 AM The Ticket at 7:15 pm to catch all the action live from Petoskey in the "Throw Back" game with Brian Shaw and Steve Behan.

Prostesters Gather At Commencement

Nearly one thousand people rallied at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor on Saturday morning to protest Governor Snyders budget cuts and policies.  The prostest was held across the street from where Governeor Snyder delivered the commencement speech at the University of Michigan at Michigan Stadium. The protesters were displeased with Snyder's cuts in education spending and proposed tax increases on pensions, while giving tax breaks to business.
