The final score was 1 to 5.
The Tigers took the early lead in Game 3 versus The Oakland A's with a Gerald Laird double on a grounder to left field and Ryan Rayburn scored the run in thei run in the 2nd inning. It was a pitching match between Justin Verlander and Dallas Braden of The A's. It wasn't until the fourth inning when The A's took control. Verlander gave up a 2 run homer to Jack Cust and the game slowly slipped way for The Tigers as their offense struggled.
The sixth inning determined the final outcome as Verlander gave up a single, then a balk advanced the runner to 2nd. Justin Giambi stepped up to the plate and delivered a 2 run homer and The A's led 4 to 1.
The A's finished off The Tigers in the 8th inning as Brandon Lyon delvered a pitch to Kurt Suzuki and knocked out a double to right field and Bobby Crosby scored the final run in the game.
Detroit managed only 1 run on 6 hits. The A's picked up 5 runs on 9 hits and The best of 2 out of 3 games to take The Series.
